- Camden Hills State Park — drive or hike up Mount Battie for a sweeping view over the harbor and Penobscot Bay (unreal in fall foliage).
- Downtown — walkable shops, galleries and restaurants steps from the water.
- Curtis Island Lighthouse guards the harbor mouth, and neighboring Rockport is a short, pretty drive.
Best time to visit
Summer for sailing and harbor life; late September into October for foliage — the view from Mount Battie over the bay is one of the best leaf-peeping vantage points in the state.

Camden is about 1 hour 45 minutes up Route 1 from Portland, in the heart of the Midcoast.
