Best for: Motels near the state park with easier parking
Just north of the village toward Camden Hills State Park (and Mount Battie), with motels and inns that usually run a little less than downtown and make hiking easy.
Best for: A quieter harbor right next door
The smaller harbor village just south — calmer and residential, a few minutes from Camden's action while feeling a step removed.
Best for: A small beach and the Islesboro ferry
A few miles north with a little pebble beach, casual dining, and the ferry to Islesboro — cottages and rentals for a quieter, water-side stay.

The season runs May through October, peaking in summer and for foliage (Camden Hills is spectacular in October). Winter is quiet with many seasonal closures, though the village stays charming.

Rockland, about 8 miles south, generally runs cheaper than downtown Camden and has a lively arts scene (the Farnsworth Museum), so many visitors use it as a value base and drive into Camden.
For July–August and foliage weekends, book a few months ahead — the harbor-view rooms go first. Shoulder season (late spring, late October) is easier and cheaper.
The downtown and harbor are very walkable. Staying along Route 1 or in Lincolnville means a short drive into the village, where summer parking can be tight.
